Chip Timing:
We will be using the IPICO chip timing system this year which requires the timing chip to be attached to your shoe with the supplied tie wraps. At the finish line, volunteers will cut the tie wraps and remove the timing ship. Make sure that the timing chip is returned after the race as there is a $30 fee for any tags that are not returned. If you forget to return the chip at the finish, please mail it as soon as possible to Skagit Runners, P.O. Box 120, Burlington, WA 98233 to avoid the charge. Also note that all entrants need to be entered in the computer before the race begins to be included in the age division awards. If you arrive late (after 9:30 am) and register on the morning of the race, there may not be time to enter your information so you will not be eligible for age division awards. For late arrivals, we will still enter your information before publishing official results on the website, but this will be after all of the age group awards have been given out to pre-registered and early DOR registrants. Remember, for both races, NO CHIP, NO TIME!

Optional Bib Pick-up:
Pre-registered participants may pick up their bib numbers in advance at the Skagit Running Company (702 S. First St., Mount Vernon) on Friday 11/9/2012 during business hours (10 am - 5 pm). Bib numbers may also be picked up the morning of the race at the school. Timing chips must be picked up the morning of the race.

Course:
The 10K is a flat loop on farming roads south of downtown Mount Vernon with a short out and back section on Dike Road. The 5K is also flat course. The 10K course has been certified (USATF certification code WA09057MW). The 5K is also certified (USATF certification code WA12043MN). Both races will start at 10 am at the school. The courses are not closed to vehicle traffic, but both courses have been designed to avoid crossing any dangerous intersections. One aid station will be located near the 3 mile mark on the 10K course assuming that the wind doesn't blow it away!

Course Maps:
10K, 5K

Course Closure:
The courses will be open for 2 hours.

Weather:
Almost any type of weather is possible at this time of year in the valley. There is usually a strong headwind on Dike Road in late fall, but also be prepared for rain and cold temperatures.

Race Results:
Results will be posted near the finish line as soon as they are available. Complete results will be posted online at Skagit Runners website.

For awards purposes, the age divisions are 6 and under, 7-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. The age divisions will be the same for both the 10K and the 5K.
